Journey Through Hoysala Empire – 2

Journey through Hoysala Empire – 2

After the Journey through Hoysala Empire – 1 in my last trip , we started to explore the beautiful Hoysala temples once again .We visited the third most famous Hoysala temple Chenna Kesava Temple in Somnathpura .The Temple is similar to Halebidu in terms of spacious park maintained around the temple. Its very clean and well maintained . This Temple was constructed by Somanatha Dandanayaka , a high officer under Hoysala King Narasimha lll (1254-1291 AD).

We also visited the Venugopala swamy temple near KRS backwaters in Mysore. It was actually a 12th century Temple, which remained submerged when the KRS was full and resurfaced when the water level reached an all time low. The temple shifted to the shore block by block and reconstructing. This feet has been accomplished by  Khoday Foundation ( late Sri Hari Khoday). The temple was very cleanly maintained and the location is very scenic especially when the Cauvery river flows in full, while in the other Hoysala temples photography is allowed even inside temple , here the camera is not allowed even outside the temple however we can take pics with mobile outside the temple.
